ABOUT MOANA JR:  This thrilling and heartwarming coming-of-age story follows the strong-willed Moana as she sets sail across the Pacific to save her village and discover the truth about her heritage. Moana and the legendary demigod Maui embark on an epic journey of self-discovery and camaraderie as both learn to harness the power that lies within. With empowering messages of bravery and selflessness, Moana JR. is sure to bring out the hero within each of us. Featuring all the beloved songs from the film, written by Tony®, GRAMMY, Emmy, and Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Lin-Manuel Miranda, Opetaia Foa’i, and Mark Mancina, including “How Far I’ll Go,” “Shiny,” and “You’re Welcome.”

Celebrating the rich history of Oceania and based on the beliefs and cultures of the people of the Pacific Islands, Moana was developed in collaboration with an Oceanic Trust – a group of anthropologists, cultural practitioners, historians, linguists, and choreographers from the Pacific Islands. The same respect and attention to detail used to develop the film was carried forward in the creation of this stage adaptation.

The online curriculum will include auditions, coaching and rehearsals of all the show material, from music and lines to learning how to act on film, culminating in a video production featuring your child(ren)! You will see your child learn new skills in the musical theater arena from the safety of your home, using  the same equipment you have already likely been using for your child's school. If you have seen the recent Disney singalong, or other current online performances, then you probably already know the wonderful potential of an online show.

How will this work?  The children will meet daily through the Zoom app (video conferencing) to learn the show and all the theater education we can pack in to create a great show. After getting their parts down, each child will video and upload their performance with the guidance of our creative team. Then, with the students’ input, our fabulous technical crew will implement their design and compile the parts into a full video performance for all of us to enjoy at our virtual Watch Party! We can't wait to see the children shine on video!  A Moana Beach Bag will be provided for each student, filled with the script, music CD, craft supplies, family activities and cool surprises!

What can you expect from a typical camp day?  You can expect your child to be online an average of 2 hours for group instruction and an additional 1 for individual lessons/small group rehearsals per day. An extra hour will be added two afternoons of the first week for special enrichment guests.
