Just in time for Halloween, Arts Express reimagines the bone-chilling power of Sweeney Todd, featuring a knock-out cast and live orchestra. Attend the dark, witty and Tony Award-winning tale of love, murder and revenge set against the backdrop of 19th century London. This 1979 Tony Award-winner for Best Musical features music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and is based on the 1973 play “Sweeney Todd, the Demon Barber of Fleet Street” by Christopher Bond.

SYNOPSIS: An infamous tale, Sweeney Todd, an unjustly exiled barber, returns to nineteenth century London, seeking vengeance against the lecherous judge who framed him and ravaged his young wife. The road to revenge leads Todd to Mrs. Lovett, a resourceful proprietress of a failing pie shop, above which, he opens a new barber practice. Mrs. Lovett's luck sharply shifts when Todd's thirst for blood inspires the integration of an ingredient into her meat pies that has the people of London lining up... and the carnage has only just begun!

Meet the Directors

Chris Will, Director
Chris Will has been directing, teaching and performing musicals all around the world for the past 19 years,  including two Off-Broadway shows (Time Being and The Jungle Queen Debutante).

He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Wyoming in Theatre & Dance and continued his education in the United Kingdom, earning his Masters of Performance in Musical Theatre from The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and received an MFA in directing form the University of Idaho. Chris Will is excited to start working full time as the theater professor at Pima Community College.
